This guest post (and infographic) by Careerminds* shows you easy and effective ways to help you get back on your feet and land a job after you have been let go from a position.
Job searches are always hard, but going through them after being let go can make them even harder. Not only is your morale low, but there is a sense of pressure to quickly find a job as to not feel the impact of lost wages. It takes an organization an average of about fifty-two days to hire on a candidate for an open position. While a month and a half might not seem like a long time, it is long enough to cause serious harm to the morale and financial stability of an unemployed job seeker. All of these factors can lead to one of the most stressful times in a person’s life.
There has and never will be a magic potion that can guarantee someone that has been let go a solid new role within a reasonable amount of time. However, there are certain steps an individual can take to ensure that they are on the right track to to gain employment. For example, did you know that 76% of resumes are thrown out due to an inappropriate email address? (We are looking at you winelover12345@gmail.com!)

Hi Tinukemi,
I found the 5 tips to landing a job after being let go enlightening especially the tip about saying ‘thank you’. Till now, I held the view that sending a mail/text saying thank you would make the job seeker come across as patronising the interviewers or the company’s executives.
I was of the opinion that being polite and providing timely response to mails , good attitude during interview as well as intelligence displayed during such interview would suffice in getting the job.
Thanks for opening my eyes to this aspect.
Regards.
Thank you for reading, Dupe! And you’re right about being polite and displaying good attitude during the interview. Saying ‘thank you’ just carries on the attitude after the interview. And you know with that, whether or not we get the job, we’ll always maintain a good and polite reputation. That’s always an asset. We’re grateful to the good people at CareerMinds for sharing with us.
